Don’t let life pass you by because you are so caught up on watching the end that you miss the entire ride. have you ever had a vision of a project or gave birth to a child. In that moment you are excited, but your mind starts to wander. You start thinking about the future and all the things that you are going to need.
Have you ever gotten so caught up in your future that you lost yourself and the present went past you? I mean your drove right past it and missed out on opportunities all because you were so concerned about the years ahead that you never thought to focus on what is in front of you right now.
A new born baby has many milestones that it hits in its first year of birth: smiling, clapping, laughing, teeth, eating, crawling, walking and more. Clearly there’s a lot that takes place. What happens, if I only look towards them getting into college? What if I only think about them as a teenager? What if I only think of them playing sports?
I then miss out on the those special moments. The ones that I can’t get back. The ones that are the most cherished in our minds hardly ever caught on film. But the memory last forever. But when you are no longer looking towards those moments and your caught up in your future, you miss a chance to build a file of those small moments that led to that bigger moment.
Gratitude is all about appreciation. It’s about showing up and appreciating where you are. The small things count. The big things count. Don’t overlook one for the other.
